A UN court has suspended an appeals hearing after suspect Slobodan Praljak claims to have drunk poison after hearing the verdict.

Praljak is one of six former Bosnian Croat political and military leaders being prosecuted in The Hague.

“I have taken poison,” he told the judge on hearing his 2013 sentence to 20 years in prison for crimes in East Mostar had been upheld.
